We older folks want to know that if we need help while we’re abroad there is help if we need it.

The IAMAT directory is a terrific resource for locating reliable physicians and medical facilities in almost any country in the World. IAMAT stands for the International Association for Medical Assistance to Travelers who should consider joining before traveling out of the country. The website is www.IAMAT.org, and the organization relies on donations, and it’s a worthy cause. There, travelers have access to a wealth of information on everything from vaccination requirements to health risks in almost any destination.

Here’s another source for valuable travel information: the U.S. Department of State at www.travel.state.gov. There, travelers can get alerts about nearly any destination and have them available on all their digital devices.

Have a look, also, at www.step.state.gov. STEP stands for Smart Traveler Enrollment Program, a service of the Bureau of Consular Affairs. STEP is a free service that allows U.S. citizens traveling abroad to enroll their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Protecting the lives and interests of U.S. citizens abroad is a core mission of U.S. Embassies and Consulates. It encourages all U.S. citizens traveling or residing overseas to notify the closest U.S. Embassy or Consulate of their contact information so that, in an emergency, they can contact you to provide important safety and security information, or support during a crisis.

Here’s another website to check out: www.JohnnyJet.com provides travel tips not available in most other places, including the best travel gadgets, great travel deals, and top credit cards for earning rewards.
